Cats are territorial, so the most important question for any cattery is whether your cat will share space with cats from other homes. A good cat hotel gives each family its own unit, with cats from the same home able to stay together.
Look for units with vertical space to climb, a hiding spot, natural light and a view outside. Sneeze barriers between units, good ventilation and strict vaccination checks keep cat flu from spreading.
Ask who is on site overnight, how medication is recorded, and whether they can stick to your cat’s usual food. The best catteries send photo updates without being asked.
Very little. "Cattery" is the traditional name for cat boarding. "Cat hotel" usually means larger private suites, more enrichment and extras like photo updates or webcams.
Most cat hotels require up-to-date core vaccinations (cat flu and enteritis) and will ask to see the certificate. Some also require rabies vaccination. Check with the hotel before you book.
At a good cat hotel, yes: cats from the same home can share a family suite. Cats from different homes should never share.
For school holidays and December, book two to three months ahead. Popular cat hotels fill up early.
